Winter gear that enhances the experience

If you haven’t done a gear check for your winter outdoor adventures, now’s the time. Don’t wait until the night before when your ride is coming at 5 a.m. to head for the hills. Prep your gear now, that way you can take inventory of what you need, what you want (and may not necessarily need) against what you have. It will also give you the chance to repair anything that took a hit last season.

Whether you’re into ice fishing, skiing, snowboarding, cross-country skiing or sledding with the family – gear is important. There’s so much gear out there, it’s hard to know where to begin. Here are some of the best outdoor gadgets (including an OtterBox, of course) we’ve found that will keep you out there doing what you love.

waterproof iphone case

Phone Protection

We recently launched the Preserver Series for iPhone 5, 5s, 5c and GALAXY S4. This seriously waterproof phone case is a must-have for me this season because I’ve actually dropped my phone off of the ski lift before. Yep, that’s right and needless to say — it didn’t survive to tell the tale.

HBC200

Slope Connection

The U-Clear Bluetooth helmet communicator with microphones allows you to keep track of up to 10 people while on the slopes. If you spend time wondering where your kids are, this cool helmet communicator could be the gadget for you. It brings a whole new meaning to, “Meet me at the bottom of the run.”

Vexilar

Fish Track’n

If ice fishing is your passion, the Vexilar DTD Camera will have you catching fish in no time. Its full-size color screen allows you to find and watch fish under the ice. This camera helps to navigate around rocks, weeds and anything else in your way. It also conveniently displays water temperature and depth right on the screen.

GoPro-Hero3

Film Attraction

A must-have regardless of what winter activity you’re into is the GoPro Hero 3. If you’re a skier or snowboarder, you’ll love making sweet videos of the terrain you conquer. Even if you’re just sledding with the kids, the camera is so portable you can keep it in your pocket. Make sure you download the GoPro app which basically turns your phone into a remote control. It also allows you to preview your videos and share via email, social channels and more.
