Choice City Butcher, Fort CollinsFor the last couple weeks I’ve been listening to my Northwest friends complain about the rain in Oregon and Washington and the fact that it is June. After this weekend, I completely understand what they mean. Here in Colorado we had the sunniest, warmest Memorial Day weekend in years and it has been hot and sunny since. Up until Friday, that is.

S3BB (Safety Third Bicycle Brew Tour)

Another day, another fifty-mile bike ride to twelve breweries in a wet suit…but it was only 90 degrees.

Yaaa… So it all began with Rob (the chicken). For his capstone efficiency project he calculated the optimal amount of beer one could drink while biking between twelve breweries in the Boulder area and all while staying under the legal limit!! Luckily, I weigh 175 pounds so I could take down more brew per stop, but I’m a light weight in other respects. Deviled Eggs

Deviled eggs

Some people love eggs. Some people hate them. Personally, I love eggs and believe there is truly an art to cooking them well. Fried eggs are okay but I think most people don’t cook them right. They are either overcooked or undercooked. There is a real precision and finesse to making delectable eggs.

My favorite eggs are poached, but again this takes skill and finesse. Usually I go for scrambled because this is hard to mess up. But I’ve been to many a restaurant that has made them disgusting.

Warm temperatures, sunny skies and long hours of daylight all add up to me maximizing my time outside. I avoid cooking indoors as much as I can during warm weather. My house just gets too hot when we use the range and oven, plus that means I’m inside and not out enjoying the nice evenings. To remedy this, we do as much cooking as we can on our backyard BBQ .
