Custom Case Hack: How To Create Bling Commuter Series 3D
Storm was inspired to design her custom 3D OtterBox Case while watching Jersylicious on the Style Network. She wanted to create a design that highlighted the features of the Sea Foam 3D Commuter Series pattern, and showed off a little “bling” as well. Follow the steps below to see how she accomplished this in a few simple steps.
You will need an assortment of 3 different color nail polishes. Gold is mandatory, according to Storm, to add bling to the case. The other colors used for this case were pink and green to highlight the flowers.
Purchase your OtterBox iPhone 5 Commuter Series 3D Case from otterbox.com.
Use your gold nail polish to cover the entire back of the Commuter Series 3D case. Make sure you fill in the sides and any gaps within the raised pattern. Allow the entire case to dry. You may need to go over the case a second time to fill in any gaps.
Use the green nail polish, or a color of your choice, to fill in the vines and leaves on the design. Be careful to fill in only the top of the raised areas, avoiding the edges or sides of the design. Allow this layer to dry.
For the last step, use pink, or another color of your choice, and fill in the petals of the flower. It can be tricky to fill in all the details here, so take your time and try not to get any pink on the green leaves or gold background. Storm chose to leave the center of the flowers gold for her custom case.
After the entire case has dried, use the remainder of your nail polish to cover up any runs.
There you have it! You have now created your own 3D Bling Commuter Series case. Let us know what other designs or customizations you would like to see in the comments below.
