For the Love of Fall
“Live in each season as it passes; breathe the air, drink the drink, taste the fruit.” – Henry David Thoreau
Alas! Gone are the long, lazy days of summer. The musky, fragrant scent of burning skin and barbeques that fill the air begins to fade as the days grow colder and shorter and everyone must fall back into their normal routine. It’s sad, I know. But there are so many more reasons to get excited for the season’s change — aside from the newest gadgets being released — and here are a number of reason’s why …
No More Pesky Problems
Summer is filled with tons of fun outdoor activities, from camping to lounging by the pool to grilling up some grub with family and friends. But with all these activities come bug-bites, sunburns and if you live anywhere on the west coast, the increasingly problematic and devastating wildfires. Not to mention summer gets HOT. Too hot to even go outside some days. So you either get stuck trying to battle the sweltering heat at home, or later having to pay that awesomely massive utility bill from running your AC on high all day.
The Beauty of Fall
As fall rolls around, temperatures start to cool off which not only means lower bills but, for this girl at least, finally being able to get a good night’s sleep! I don’t know about you, but I find it really hard, if not nearly impossible, to sleep soundly when I’m either itching all over from bug bites or can’t seem to get comfortable from all the heat. I definitely lose all the little motivation I already have to work out. It’s hot enough out, why would I want to make it any worse for myself? With fall comes a new beginning. There’s a wonderful smell in the air. The air gets crisper and cooler as the leaves change a million different shades of brilliant colors. Take a minute. Go for a walk. Breathe in deep and take in the scene. Enjoy the simple pleasures in life.
All New Shows and oh yeah … Football!
Maybe the barbecues aren’t over per se. Maybe they’ve simply moved … inside? The return of the American football season is not only a chance to cheer on your favorite team, but is also a great reason to gather with friends and family, drink some beer and eat some delicious food. Not only that, but with so much more time to kill while being indoors, you can throw on your favorite pajamas and cozy up next to the fire as you watch your favorite shows!
New Gadgets and Music
It’s no secret that September is one of the most highly anticipated months of the year as the world awaits with baited breath on whether Apple will once again rock the tech industry with some revolutionary new gadget. There are also many others, like Samsung and Motorola, that are rolling out some awesome new devices and gadgets for you to play with! What’s more is that this time of year the music industry kicks it into gear and begins releasing the newest music from some of the industry’s hottest artists. Everything from Nine Inch Nails to Kings of Leon to Keith Urban, Macklemore, Justin Timberlake, Queens of the Stone Age, Drake, Lady Gaga, Jack Johnson and Eminem, just to name a few.
Fall Back = More Sleep
Feeling a bit run down from the summer’s fun-filled events? Daylight savings ends Sunday, November 3, which means an extra hour of sleep. But hey, take any extra sleep you can get! The Association for Psychological Science revealed in an online article that sleep deprivation takes a heavy toll in terms of lowered productivity at work, an increase in traffic accidents and an increased risk for heart attacks. More sleep? Yes, please!
‘Tis the Season!
Caramel, apple, pumpkin, spices, latte, ales … are you excited yet? Autumn is that wonderful season known for indulging in all the comforting yummy treats one can possibly dream up and concoct. It’s a time of pumpkin patches, carving parties, haunted houses and corn mazes. Jumping in puddles, getting lost in a pile of leaves, lazy mornings, football Sundays and snuggling up next to the crackling fire with someone you love. Decorating and baking goodies are among the countless number of ways to get creative and fill your home with lots of love and laughter — so soak it up, breathe it in and drink it down because it’ll all be over with before we know it!
About the Author
Animal lover. Foodie. Photographer. Amateur do-it-yourselfer and cook-it’s hard to say what I obsess over the most. I love challenges and learning new things. Born and raised in Colorado- other than the 2 years I spent getting in touch with my Filipino roots -I love good beer and doing anything outdoors. When I’m not obsessing on something, at work or off getting lost somewhere, you can probably find me barbequing with friends and family, working in my garden or curled up on the couch with a movie and a glass of wine.
