For the Love of Polish

I am addicted to nail polish. There, I said it.

I would be embarrassed if you really knew how many colors of Essie and OPI polishes I own. While we’re on this honesty train, I might as well admit that if I could have any job in the world, it would be to be the person who gets to name every shade and collection of OPI nail polish. Check out a list of names on this Pinterest board. Aren’t they great? So clever and creative. I love it.

So you don’t think I’m entirely crazy, here’s my take on the whole nail polish thing: To me, nail polish is more than just colored lacquer. It’s an outlet for expression and a personal extension of my style. The creative soul in me is always looking for ways to express myself. I love that nail polish comes in thousands of colors, shades and finishes — there is always that perfect polish for every mood, outfit and event. And the really, really good thing about nail polish is that it’s a heck of a lot cheaper than clothes, shoes and purses.

Like many things, the Internet has taken nail styles to a whole new level. There are so many blogs, websites and photos with do-it-yourself tutorials and inspiration. Here are a few of my favorites:

  • - I follow this board on Pinterest and can spend hours looking at the incredible designs people come up with.
  • - While I’m always game for a sophisticated look of a classic solid, the fun trends are sprucing up the traditional solid with accent nails and nail polish designs.
  • - I recently discovered these chevron vinyl nail art decals on Etsy. I love this idea for those of us with a not-so-steady hand. I will definitely be purchasing these in the near future.

Hey, all of this fashion talk reminds me. Have you heard about our new stylish, yet incredibly protective, Symmetry Series case? It’s available in a wild array of colors and graphics so you can match your nail style to your stylish phone case. Now that’s a true extension of personal style that I can endorse.

I was born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska — smack dab in the middle of the U.S.A. I moved to Fort Collins for school. It’s safe to say, six years later, I’ve decided to stay put for a while. When I’m not “working with the OtterBox creative team to produce compelling and creative content for various audiences and communication vehicles,” you can find me taking advantage of the Colorado landscape, eating all sorts of delicious cheeses, cruising around town on my bike, sharing conversation with friends and just letting my hair down — that is, as long as it’s all still there. I think culprit for my recent hair loss is my task-list … but that’s just a hunch.
