Have you Heard?
Isn’t it funny how discovering the best kept secrets makes us feel as though we’ve discovered hidden gems?
It’s why we buy pop-culture magazines and record E! News while we’re at work. Okay, well maybe nobody really cares about that, but you get my point. While a rumor may always be just a rumor, we still crave knowing about the new. And nowadays, let’s face it; not only are our mobile devices an extension of how we want to be connected to the world around us, but they are also a visual statement of how we see ourselves. Therefore, whenever big companies like Apple and Samsung begin to leak information of possible new devices, we raise our eyebrows and wonder, “What’s next?”
Spring is right around the corner, and this season of renewal also brings new technology. Now, this is all speculation, of course, but technology buzz is leaping onto the pages of laptops, phones and tablets, oh my! But with new devices coming out all the time, it’s hard to know which one is best for you, right? Well, here is a quick rundown of some of the highlights of the rumored devices and what they could potentially have to offer.
Let’s first take a look at what the ever-colossal Apple has in store for its loyal customers. Just like everyone is trying to shed a few extra pounds during spring to prep for summer, so too is the iPad. Long gone are the days of “bigger is better.” It’s all about being slim and sleek these days. Apple is looking to trim down the latest version of the iPad, making it lighter and narrower. The 9.7-inch device is expected to feature software that is more advanced and will have the capability to detect when there is “unwanted” touching of the screen. Another cool concept being rumored is Apple’s interest in moving from their in-cell technology to Sharp’s IGZO technology, which would offer higher screen densities and lower power consumption, for those nights when you just can’t stop watching the Downtown Abbey series!
And when it comes to iPhones, people are gearing up for a double whammy! Rumors are soaring about the release of the next upgraded iPhone, possibly being called the iPhone 5S or iPhone 6, which would likely include several upgrades and possibly even offer the same IGZO technology as the rumored iPad. Additionally, we could also see a cheaper version of the latest iPhone 5. This is great news for those not wanting to break the bank on purchasing a new phone. There is speculation that this less-expensive device could have similarities to the iPhone 5, the iPod touch and the iPod Classic.
Now, if you are more of the Android persuasion, don’t fret! There’s plenty of buzz for you to share with all of your techie pals. The most talked-about Android launch right now is the rumored Samsung Galaxy S4, the newest of the Galaxy lines to feature the S Pen and a colossal 5-inch display with full HD resolution. Now that’s a smartphone on steroids! With information coming straight from South Korea, sources also shared plans for the device to be powered by EXYNOS 5440 quad-core processor and boasts an impressive 13 megapixel camera, for all those photo-taking individuals who just can’t post enough on Instagram. But for all you device lovers out there who really only care about the aesthetics, the big question on your mind is, “What will this magnificent phone look like?” Well, check out the concept video that was released. One of the coolest features of this phone is the projected keyboard. If there is truly the ability for this feature, it would allow the user to project an image of the keyboard onto a flat surface, and then allow the user to use those projected keys for typing. Looks like Android users might have something to brag about!
While these two devices seem to be dominating the rumor mill, there are plenty of other devices that are planning on giving these two a run for their money. Other rumors being tracked right now include the following:
