Homemade freezer pops
I picked up a couple freezer pop makers and the kids are having a fantastic time making and eating these frozen treats. Initially the only drink mix I had in the house was powdered lemonade. So we made a batch and one kid used green food coloring and the other used red.
Those went quickly so we next made a batch with a bright red Kool-Aid flavor. I keep suggesting they try apple juice, but that option isn’t even close to interesting for the kids.
The next time I get out the ice cream maker I’m planning to fill the freezer pop makers with the ice cream flavor of their choice.
I’m also curious to try a fruit puree freezer pop. I started looking up recipes and was amazed at all the really creative options out there. In this single post there are seven really cool recipes. I’m most excited to try the Nutella version. http://blogs.babycenter.com/life_and_home/homemade-popsicles/
Here is another fun list of recipes for freezer pops from allrecipes.com. http://allrecipes.com/recipes/desserts/frozen-treats/popsicles/top.aspx
There are so many options that I don’t even know where to begin. I think this is going to be a fun, treat-filled summer and I’m going to score huge points with my kids!
