The Discovery Channel has been keeping us afraid of the water since July 17, 1988. That’s over a quarter century of jaw-snapping, fear-inducing fun. I don’t think it would be too far-fetched to say it has become a national holiday. So how do you get the most out of Shark Week each year? Here are a few tips:

1. Prepare

Much like the intrepid scientists that we love to watch, we too must prepare for a week in the depths. However, I prefer to use less shark proof chain mail and watch the professionals from afar. The best set ups are also mobile – I use the Discovery app on my iPad and Agility tablet system to take the best shark shows on the go. Because there’s no way I’m going to miss Sharksanity.

2. Devour

There’s no Shark Week without snacks and by far the best snack for Shark Week is Shark Bait. It’s a simple yet addictive recipe, which can be found here. Think all the goodness of popcorn (for that necessary CRUNCH) and the sweet, sweet deliciousness of cake batter. Combine with gummy fish for the ultimate Shark Week treat.

3. Recover

Now that Shark Week is over, what do you do? My recommendation is to go outside, since you probably haven’t seen the light of day since Lair of the Megashark aired. And, what better way to enter the world again in mid-summer than heading pool side? Shark impressions are definitely encouraged, but we recommend protecting your phone with a Preserver Series for taking underwater selfies.
