Autumn has officially arrived and leaf peepers are out in full force watching the beauty that is fall foliage. These color enthusiasts are hitting the road to see one of the most beautiful things that nature has to offer. Below you will find a great list of apps that will guide you on your autumn journey.

Leaf Peepr

Find and report on fall foliage! Yankee Magazine’s Leaf Peepr app helps fall-foliage fans find and report on the best and brightest colors in the United States. With this app you can create foliage reports, rate foliage and find current foliage rated by hundreds of other leaf peepers. (iOS and Android)

Tree ID

This app helps identify leaf characteristics, bark and fruit. It will also tell you where they are found. Tree ID allows you to identify almost any tree in North America based on its name, physical attributes and geographic location. (iOS)

Leaf Snap

Try Leaf Snap, developed by scientists at Columbia University, University of Maryland and the Smithsonian for the iPhone and iPad. This app lets users snap photos of their findings and match them with the right species. (iOS)

All Trails

With this app you can browse through over 40,000 high-quality trail guides for outdoor activities including everything from hiking and mountain biking to fly fishing and snowshoeing. If you know of a trail that isn’t in the database, you can go out, track your hike or ride with the GPS tracker and add the trail for others to view and follow themselves. (iOS and Android)
