Spending Valentine’s Day with that special someone?
Ladies, they say that a way to a man’s heart is through his stomach. Gentlemen, women love a man that can cook! Surprise your special someone this year with a romantic dinner that you made all by yourself. Epicurious is the next-generation kitchen companion. This brilliant app enables food lovers to search for professionally created and tested recipes, make interactive shopping lists, follow step-by-step stove-side instructions and sync to your online recipe box. Now get to cooking! It will be well worth the effort! Available for: iOS, Android, Nook, Windows Phone, Blackberry, Kindle
Slots of Love: Let’s face it — everyone can use additional romance in their daily lives. With Slots of Love you will always have romance ideas at your fingertips. Single and ready to Mingle?
OK Cupid: Described as “The Google of online dating” by the Boston Globe, dating has never been so fun, social or free!
OK Cupid gives you all the powerful and awesome dating capabilities of OkCupid.com, plus their famous locals feature: a new way to chat with singles and meet new friends. Broadcast your status. Send messages to your potential matches. Upload photos. Customize your match search to find exactly what you are looking for, or be a lazy donkey and let them do the matching for you. They use math and computers to get you dates; all you have to do is not screw it up. Available for: iOS, Android
I “have a friend” who uses the OK Cupid app and “he” said that it is pretty awesome! (Don’t judge)
Plenty of Fish (POF): Join the largest community of online daters and let POF help you connect with your soul mate. Unlike Match.com and EHarmony POF is free. With the POF app, you can access many of the site’s features on your phone. You can upload an image, edit your profile, search for users and read and reply to messages. You can also view your matches, your favorites and the users who have viewed your profile. Their exclusive “Mobile Users” feature gives you access to singles near you who are also using the app. Available for: iOS, Android
Remember that “friend” I told you about? Yeah…he likes this app too.
Down with Valentine’s Day! (National Singles Awareness Day)
If you’re going to be alone on National Singles Awareness Day or as it’s more commonly known “Valentine’s Day,” you can still be the life of the party! The Mixology Drink Recipes app contains over 7,900 drink recipes and 1,300 plus ingredients. One of the app’s many features includes the “LIQUOR CABINET.” which lets you enter all the liquor and mixer types you have on hand and search the database for all the cocktails you’re able to make. Available for: iOS, Android
DISCLAIMER: Friend’s don’t let friends drink and text. Please drink responsibly.
So you’re home alone with a cocktail but something is missing — you’re bored! A night at home with a good book and your favorite drink sounds like the perfect anti-Valentine’s to me. The Amazon Kindle app gives you access to over 1,000,000 books in the Kindle Store plus hundreds of newspapers and magazines. Amazon Whispersync automatically syncs your last page read, bookmarks, notes and highlights across devices (including Kindle), so you can pick up your book where you left off on another device.
BONUS APP – Facebook:
This is an old one, but hear me out. While I don’t necessarily condone stalking your ex online, you may have an uncontrollable urge to go “see what they’re up to” after a few glasses of wine or professionally mixed libations. It’s definitely bound to happen if you are single. Available for: iOS, Android, Windows, Blackberry
