Tailgating eats

Tailgates are so much fun! Like I was telling the crowd at work it’s probably good there weren’t smartphones to capture every misbehavior back when I was in school. My tailgating exploits are better as faded memories than digital images. Aside from the obvious imbibing that happens at tailgates my favorite part is the food. Here are some of my favorite tailgate eats broken out into digestible categories.

DIPS

I just love a good dip. From French onion to plain ol’ ranch most everything tastes even better slathered in a great dip.

Fiesta salsa

16 oz. of your favorite canned or fresh salsa

16 oz. sour cream

1 package your favorite taco seasoning

1 larger can chopped green chilis

1 cup (or more) grated cheddar or jack cheese

Mix all ingredients together and shovel into your face with corn chips. As a variation I like to add sliced black olives too.

7 Layer Taco Dip

Buffalo Chicken Dip

Best Ever Hot Artichoke Dip

Chili in a Biscuit Bowl

GRILLIN’

Wings

Hot dogs are easy enough to just toss on the grill, but if you really want to impress your friends try this Bacon Wrapped Mexican Hot Dog recipe.

Also with burgers, anyone can make a great burger, but surprise your friends with these awesome Stuffed Burgers.

FINGER FOODS

It’s not a tailgate party without at least three types of chips and corn chips with salsa.

Pinwheels: I started to look up a recipe, but these couldn’t be easier. Lay out some tortillas, spread cream cheese on them and layer on top your favorite meats, cheeses and veggies. Roll up and slice into desired thickness for the wheels. I’ve got my kids hooked on pepperoni and cream cheese pinwheels.

Pigs-in-a-blanket

Veggies with Ranch Dip of course

Quesadilla triangles

DESSERT

Rice crispy treats with food coloring to match your favorite team.

Whatever your favorite snack this season is sure to be full of great food and memories. Go Ducks!
