7 Hairpin Turns, a Mountain Road, a Freeway and 25 Miles Later…

My wife accidentally left her iPhone 4 (with an OtterBox Commuter Series case) on top of our car after a mountain hike. To drive home we went down a mountain road that included seven hairpin turns with many more curves and twists along the way. We then drove on the freeway for eight miles traveling around 70 MPH most of the way. When we arrived home, she couldn’t find her phone and we feared she had dropped it back on the mountain somewhere near the car. Using the app that locates your phone, we discovered that it was with us at home and we began dialing the number to locate it. We figured it had to be in the car and we called 5 times and could hear it vibrating but couldn’t locate it in the car. On the sixth call we finally figured it out and there it was…still on top of the car! Our car has a small raised portion on the roof that helped it from sliding off the side, but it was the silicone portion of the OtterBox that kept it from sliding off the back and ending up who knows where on the road.
