The new iPhone 5 – The chatter continues
This week the number of rumors has decreased, but there is one major bit of activity that has increased. iPhone 5 searches have skyrocketed in anticipation of Apple’s next device … or devices. The search term “iPhone 5” is more popular now than it was a year ago, when everyone expected a product called the “iPhone 5,” according to Hitwise. In early October, 2011, Apple introduced the iPhone 4S, which didn’t quite live up to the pre-release hype. From what the rumors say, the new release will be the device people were waiting for.
Though Apple has yet to confirm a specific launch date, an unnamed source said that Verizon has instituted a vacation blackout from Friday, September 21 thru Sunday, September 30, according to TechCrunch. This would indicate they want to avoid being understaffed when iPhone buyers arrive in mobs.
iMore and other media sources have made claims that Apple plans to hold a press event on Wednesday, September 12 to introduce the iPhone 5, a smaller iPad and possibly a refreshed version of the iPod touch.
As always we will have to wait to see exactly what Apple has up their sleeve. If you’d like to stay in the know on new iPhone news around the web, check back for updates on our new iPhone rumor page.
