Do you know a survivor who has rebuilt her life after her diagnosis and treatment to emerge stronger than ever? We want to hear her story! With this prize package we want to enable the survivor with all she needs to transform one of the rooms in her home to match the incredible beauty she holds within. Because we don’t believe in doing anything halfway, we’ll be awarding this amazing prize pack to the storyteller as well.

My mother in law Sheila Bohannon is a warrior. She survived breast cancer and had lymph node cancer (4 active cells in the lymph) in the 3rd stage. I remember her being so weak that she was in the hospital almost all the time on and off for many months. It was hard for her husband and for us. At the time her daughter was 10, her son 13 and my husband, her oldest son was 20 and I’m her other daughter who was just married to her son. Everyone was so shocked because she was the only one in their family diagnosed with cancer. I felt like we were given a bad hand. She took me and my daughter in when I was thrown on the streets by my father because my mom left. I also had my niece who I was taking care of and she took her in too and made room for us. She’s now healthy, alive, and one of the best women I know. She’s now taking care of her mother in law full time who has severe alzheimers disease. She enjoys her family and we thank God for her. We love Sheila Bohannon.

My grandma Susan Beahm is one of the strongest people i know, A. She took me from my drug dealing father so that i could have a better life and be rasied right with ehr and my grandpa, they raised me for alittle over 20 years togather when my grandpa died of prostate cancer, shortly after my grandma was diagnosed with breast cancer, doing what she had to she had to have them both cut off, being a woman now without breasts she was very very shy and felt bad, so doing the human thing and wanting to feel like everyone else thats normal she went back and had implants put back in. About six months later she wenti n for a random check up…and the cancer was back..they said they werent sure if it was left over, or if it was the new implants, so yet again my grandma had a hugee choice to make, So yet again she had to do what she had to do reguardless of how she felt and had them cut off again, its been about 4 years since then and she enjoys every day she has with me and my mom, about 5 months ago my mom (Her daughter) was diagnosed with melanoma skin cancer, we are struggling thru this right now with bills so steep im surprised we have a place to live. At nearly $14,000 a month without rent and food we are sinking, but reguardless my mom and grandma show me how to be strong and enjoy what i have..I hope that all cancer survivors pass on what they have to me in the sence of apprecation. Thanks for hearing our story otterbox hope alls well

My friend, Christine Nix, is one of the strongest women I know. She has battled breast cancer twice. She is a retired Texas Ranger, one of the first female Rangers, and was diagnosed the first time with breast cancer and continued to work while recovering and going through chemotherapy. During her follow-up exams in the months after her first procedure, she was diagnosed with a second instance of breast cancer. She had a mastectomy and has recovered quite well from her ordeal. She is now retired as a Ranger, went back to college to obtain her Master’s degree in Criminal Justice and now teaches classes at a local college as well as obtaining her PhD in Criminal Justice. Through her whole diagnoses and recovery, she maintained a positive attitude and never let any of it get her down. She has also helped other women diagnosed with breast cancer to keep a positive attitude.

you know…there are survivors of other cancers who went through just as much pain and trial. i know breast cancer is the hippest cancer right now, but if throwing money at a cause gave us a cure, it would have worked by now. my 2 cents.

    • OtterBox OtterBox says:

We definitely agree, and don’t mean to diminish the pain that those who have other types of cancers go through in supporting Breast Cancer. This cause just happens to be close to our heart because our founder and CEO’s mother faced this challenge herself. We are proud to be supporting the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade because it not only focuses on research, but providing aid and support for those diagnosed.

    • Katherine says:

Charlie G – thank you for your post. I am a struggling survivor of stomach cancer (www.lifeaftergastrectomy.wordpress.com ) and I often feel that the emphasis on breast cancer overshadows the other cancer research for cures/struggles/survivors.

Sometimes, I want to scream “stop thinking PINK, and simply think CURE”. I know that may seem selfish but cancer is cancer regardless of where it appears.

My Mother Jeanette Dion Is a 2 time breast cancer survivor, whith her intial diagnosis she was scred, the second petrified! Now she is doing several relay for life events and directs her local relay for life chapter. She is an RN and has made it her mission to educate everyone on breast cancer!

I am a sarcoma survivor dx’d when my son was 1 year old and treatment ended when he turned 2 – just as I was getting my health back my husband got ill and when our son turned 5 my husband passed away (5 years ago) Yet with all that my son is a well adjusted boy who is almost always happy and positive in his outlook – The only other family member we have is my Mother and we have created a very tight knit bond

    Hello Otterbox Friends and Fans.
We are all aware how tough Otterbox products are and the protection they provide our toys. One big question, when will there be a “human” Otterbox? When will be able to protect our loved ones from the terrible disease of Cancer? We all know that Otterbox cases are tough but unfortunately there isn’t anything tough enough (today) to shield us from this nasty disease.

My family could of used this magical case 8 years ago. My wonderful Wife of (then 15 years) and Mother of our 3 awesome kids was 35 years old at the time when she felt a lump in her right breast. At first, she shrugged it off as a bruise from our toddler climbing all over her but later decided to have it checked out. She was only 35, so Breast Cancer was not a concern or thought. But due to all of the awareness from organizations like Avon, Susan G Komen and American Cancer Society she had plenty of resources to provide her with information and encourage her to get it checked out. Unfortunately, the bad news came through that she had stage 2 Breast Cancer. After 4 rounds of Chemotherapy and 3 months of Radiation, my Wife Robin walked away a different person. This hit us hard. It might have been easy to put this behind her and get on with her life but there was no way she could do that.

Robin has taken this dreaded experience and turned it into a mission to help others and hopefully one day be able to state that she has played a part in doing away with Cancer. Robin has participated in an 2 Day Avon Walk, a number of Susan G Komen 3 Day walks (over 5 years) and after volunteering for our local American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life, she was offered a job for ACS and runs 5 different Relays across Southern California. Every day of her life is devoted to awareness, education and assistance to those affected by Cancer. It is the least she can do, because if it wasn’t for awareness from great organizations like these, she might not be with us today.

    Thank you for reading this
