Speech

Ok I will give it to you it’s no Siri but on Windows Phone you can launch apps with specific commands and get it to perform specific functions. For example you can ask the timer app “SuperTimer” to start a timer of 10 mins with the command “ supertimer start a timer of 10 mins “ and Toggle (pictured left) lets you easily bring up the setting screens for various frequently used functions, etc . Now, it can be hard to keep track of all the commands, but Windows Phone gives you a quick way to check all these commands. Hold the Windows key and say “What can I say?”

Allows you and select members (it can be your family or friends or anyone you want), to share calendars, location, notes, photos, a chat messages , videos, etc with these members. This could be quite useful in Business scenarios as well. You can learn more about this cool feature from here (sadly it only works on Windows Phone and iPhones, no android love so far).

Kids Corner

No more worrying about kids using your phone to make out going calls or sending weird texts to your mates. With kids corner on Windows Phone you can add specific apps and games which kids can play with and no other features on your phone can be accessed without unlocking it with your pin. It’s super easy to setup.

Metro UI

You know you want it. Reports suggest that IOS is going to come out with a flat UI for its next update. Windows Phone started that revolution and others are slowly realising the benefits are and trying to bring it out on their own platform.

Camera

With windows Phone you can quickly launch the camera even when the phone is in the sleep mode by holding down the camera button, this way you waste no time to unlock the phone and launch the camera. You will be the quickest to pull out your phone and capture the moment.

POB-IMG-060713-WINDOWS-APPS-03Bing Music Search

Windows Phone users needs no third party app like Shazam or SoundHound , the baked in Bing Search can identify music with no issues ( and it even claims to be faster than the other apps )

Bing Translate

This is one of those apps that I wished were a core feature on Windows Phone , it’s a great little app that lets you translate text via Voice, Keyboard and even with the camera. You can take the app and show it some supported foreign language using the camera on your phone and the app will overlay the text it identifies with your chosen language. Get it here

So what do you guys think of these features? Do you see yourself wanting a Windows Phone or will you be waiting for Windows Phone Blue ? (Check out our concept for Windows Phone Blue).
